Senate Finance Chairman wants to take another look at the margin tax

After attending the Business Tax Advisory Committee meeting yesterday, Senate Finance committee Chair Steve Ogden (R-Bryan) predicted the tax will be $1 billion short of the original revenue estimate and suggested the legislature should take another look at the tax during the next session.

While Ogden was not suggesting elimination of the tax, he did express concerns about equity and whether or not the tax was adversely affecting the state's economy. Check out his and others’ comments about the tax check in this Houston Chronicle article.
